Recommendations

A lot of artists that I listen to, I wouldn’t recommend to other people. Why? Because many people find them unintelligent and offensive. I can understand that point of view honestly, But I know of many other different artist that would reach out to other people. If you’re interested in new music, some artists I think you should listen to are, other than the many I’ve talked about in recent blog posts, Childish Gambino, Chris Brown, Lana Del Ray, Jhene Aiko, Miguel, A$AP Rocky, Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, Lantana, Mac Miller, Speaker Knockerz, and The Weeknd. They are all very different but can sound the same in some ways. One of my favorite of the list is The Weeknd, his voice and lyrics are literally perfect (Listen to Live For).
More songs to try:
Young and Beautiful – Lana Del Ray
Fine China- Chris Brown
Fire Fly- Childish Gambino
Best Day Ever- Mac Miller
Adorn- Miguel
Bad Religion- Frank Ocean
Super Rich Kids- Frank Ocean & Earl Sweatshirt

And any other song by these artists.

Another Artist

Another artist I look up to is J. Cole. I’ve known about him since about 2007. His music, lyrics, everything is the truth. He sings about things that can relate to everyone in some way. He has a song
named “Lost Ones.” It basically is a conversation between a man and a girl. The girl is pregnant, and the man wants an abortion. The girl talks about how she will raise it herself, speaking about how he isn’t a real man. It is a powerful song because he brings on both points of view to Abortion, which is a very common topic in the U.S. In another song, named “Crooked Smile” he talks about how women try so hard to find a man. He talks about how girls are insecure because of the guys they try to fall in love with. He’s saying that girls will do anything, wear fake hair, nails, tan to attract the right guy. He also says that the right guy will love them and call them beautiful without them needing to dress up and try so hard. He says that you can have a crooked smile and still follow your dreams. Looks aren’t everything and that the person you are inside defines you. That is why I love J. Cole because he isn’t like every other artist. He doesn’t sing about drinking, smoking, and sex.

Experience with Artists

My First concert I’ve been to was Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller’s Under the Influence of Music Tour. They had Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Chevy Woods, and Chiddy Bang open for them. It was crazy, as it was my first concert I ever went to. It poured down rain literally the entire time until the end. No one even cared that they were soaking wet. Everyone had a good time yelling and singing along in the rain.

The absolute best concert that I’ve been to though, so far, is Wiz Khalifa’s Under the Influence of Music Tour 2. He had A$AP Rocky, Trinidad James, B.O.B, and Joey Bada$$ open for him. B.O.B came up to the lawn at the end of his song, and actually crowd surfed on my face. (The link for the video is below). He put my friend’s hat on, and touched my phone. A dude nearby got us his watch. The rest of the concert was so hyped. A$AP came out at the end when everyone left to meet people. Wiz brought his wife and son out on stage. It was one of the best things I’ve ever been to.

Different Opinions

I honestly can't imagine living life without music. Music has so much power that not many people even realize. It can lift someone's mood, bring them feeling a certain way, or even give you a reason to think. Music can change a person. Being interested in a certain type of music is enough to let it change who you are. It helps people concentrate, fall asleep, and have a good time. People go to concerts to listen to music and bring their friends, and make it something to remember. You cannot find one person on this earth that has no interest in at least some type of music. Music can bring us down or lift us up. It can bring us together. That is how powerful music truly is. It’s crazy how you can look at someone and not be able to tell what their music taste is. You may look at someone with tattoos, and a lot of piercings, or have their pants sagging, and have no idea that they listen to religious music. Music says something about the person you are. There are so many different types and styles of music that it is impossible to name them all. Everyone is able to grow on their own and have their own opinion about music. There is no “good” or “bad” music. It’s all about people’s opinion and what they like to listen to.

Reasons for Disliking Some Music

A lot of people wonder why I don't listen to some of the music that I say I don't like. Most of the reason is because I don't like listening to what everyone else listens to, not because they produce bad music. I think that people like Biggie Smalls, Tupac, Nas, Eminem, etc., produce/produced good music, but at the same time everyone is obsessed with them. Sure they're big names in hip hop, but there are people that no one even knows about that have even more talent than them. They aren't being recognized for their talent because everyone is too stuck on the past music. No one gives new, underground music a chance simply because they aren't known by everyone. A lot of people these days have the exact same taste in music as everyone else, almost like it's shoved down their throat. No one takes the time to listen to new people or other things besides what's played on the radio. I personally like having my own taste in music. I don't listen to country because EVERYONE listens to it. You really can't name that many people that don't like country music. I just don't like listening to the same music as everyone else all the time. I'd definitely be lying if I said I never listen to the radio. I'm just saying people should stop and take a listen to new people sometimes and look around for new people. They deserve to be recognized just as any other artist if they have talent too. I'm also not trying to be "hipster" in anyway. I think everyone should find their own music that no one has discovered yet too. That's just how I see it.

Need new music?

A lot of the music I listen to, I find on Sound Cloud. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a website/ application of just music. Anyone can post music to Sound Cloud. You can record a song and post it, post other people’s songs to your page, and like songs. A lot of famous artist have an account that they post mix tapes to. Mac Miller posted his mix tape called “Faces” on Sound Cloud. You can find any song you want on it. There are also a lot of versions or remixes of some songs. There are also recordings of anything, like stand- up comedy, not just music. You can make your own playlists of any song you find and want to listen to later. You can also follow people with the same music interests that you have, or that produce music that you like. The main reason I like this so much is there’s endless music to listen to. I find new music every day that I can listen to. There’s so much variety of music that you can find, and anyone can find music that they like on Sound Cloud. The music you find is your own and not many other people that you know listen’s to it, so that is what makes it your own. Basically, a lot of underground artists use this to let people listen to their music and become known. You may even know someone that makes their own music and posts it to Sound Cloud. If you don’t have one, get one!                                     https://soundcloud.com/

Upcoming Concert

In a few weeks, I’ll be going to see Kid Ink in concert. I’m very excited because I really love listening to his music. My 4 best friends and I love to blast his music while we’re driving around or just hanging out. He’s going to be performing his new album My Own Lane. Some of my favorite songs from it are We Just Came to Party, Bossin Up, and Main Chick. I honestly like the entire album. The songs are all very catchy and I could listen to them every day. It is just something that automatically puts you in a good mood. Anyway, we’ve been planning to see him for a while now and he’s finally coming to Cincinnati. I’m really looking forward to seeing him. We’re definitely going early so we can get up close. We may be able to have a meet and greet too. I hope it is the best concert I go to, I’ve been waiting for it for so long.
